5 Zoom Halloween Party Makeup Tips
We all love Halloween. Any excuse to go overboard with our makeup looks and go in sugar overload? Sign us up! This year’s Halloween night will be different than usual for obvious Covid-related restrictions. This doesn’t mean that we won’t share Instagram pics of our looks and do Zoom Halloween parties. You can opt for the Halloween classics or go more for a pop culture related look, either way there will be extra attention to your makeup.
That’s why we have listed some of the best tips and tricks for the best Halloween look ever (even through your laptop’s camera!)
Start with a clean face
Halloween looks always include lots of layering of different products and shades. This means your face should be the perfect canvas to enhance your final look. Start by cleansing your skin and do dermaplaning with the Hollywood Browzer; this removes peach fuzz and dead skin cells for the smoothest skin possible. A freshly exfoliated face also ensures a more long lasting finish so you won’t see your masterpiece fade away. Top tip: rinse your face with cold water right before applying your base to minimise the appearance of larger pores. Cakey disaster avoided.
Use products formulated for your face
It might be tempting to opt for the cheap all-in-one kit at your favourite bargain store, but your skin will thank you if you invest in good quality products. Waking up with spots and breakouts the next day is not worth it. The products don’t necessarily have to be expensive, as long as they are from brands you know and that are specific for makeup products you are good to go! Also, you could already have most of the products you need (red liquid lipstick and black eye pencil, we are looking at you!).
Follow tutorials
Looking at Instagram pictures for inspiration is great, but you might get stuck in the middle of your look trying to improvise without knowing the steps. To avoid last-minute panic, browse through some of your favourite beauty youtubers to find the perfect look. The best thing about seeing the whole process is getting the right idea of how much time it will take you and how easy it’s going to be (nothing wrong with choosing the quickest look possible).
Set your makeup properly
You wouldn't want your masterpiece to fade away after a few hours! We have explained before in detail how to make your makeup last all day (link), but you need extra care for your special Halloween look. Always use the right setting powders, opt for a translucent one to avoid flashback when taking photos of the final result. Don’t forget to reach for a long lasting setting spray to lock every product in, spray it vertically and horizontally on your face to cover every inch.
Remove your makeup
Never let your lazy side prevail when it comes to taking off your makeup at the end of the night. Try to stay away from makeup wipes, as they don’t really clean your skin and might irritate it. Instead, go for double cleansing. The first step is using an oil-based cleanser to gently break down all the makeup and sebum, the second and last step involves a water based cleanser to remove every last bit of residue. This double-duty routine is necessary when you have applied any multi-layer face makeup. So you will have the best makeup look in the evening and clean pores at night, it’s a win!
