How to Celebrate Galentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and there’s no doubt that this year will be different than year’s past. That doesn’t mean your Galentine’s Day has to be a dud, though! Coined by Amy Poehler’s character, Leslie Knope, in Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day is celebrated on the day before Valentine’s Day. Instead of chilling with your S.O., you take the time to hang out with your best friends. While you can’t go to brunch or see them in person, don’t let social distancing and other COVID-related restrictions prevent you from having a day of fun with your squad. Try any one of our pandemic-approved Galentine’s Day ideas to spread the love amongst your favourite gal pals.
Light Up Your Favorite Candles
Candles are a great way to make any space more relaxing and welcoming. Whether you opt for more manly smells, like bergamot or sage, or prefer something lighter, such as lavender or lemon, take the time to make sure your home smells amazing. This will help you relax and truly enjoy your Galentine’s Day. If candles aren’t your thing, then opt for an essential oil diffuser! You can get the same effect, without the open flame. Make it a group event pretending you’re all at the same spa, or even have candles delivered to each other beforehand and save them for your virtual hangout!
Have a Zoom Karaoke Party
Take your Zoom party up a notch by making it a Karaoke Night! Since you can’t go out and have fun with your friends over drinks at the local karaoke bar, bring the karaoke to your virtual party. Throw on some tunes, choose a silly Zoom background, and take center stage! On the plus side, it will only be your friends (and maybe your neighbors) that hear you belting it out to Whitney Houston.
Indulge in Some Self-Care
With Galentine’s Day falling on a Saturday this year, it’s the perfect opportunity to pamper yourself and your friends! Make if a fun day for the whole crew by putting together some spa kits and delivering them to your besties. Some things you could include are face and hair masks, bubble bath, epsom salt, and a sugar scrub. Take your self-care day up a notch and include the Hollywood Browzer! It helps remove peach fuzz, achieve smooth skin, and give your makeup a flawless finish. After a dermaplaning session with the Hollywood Browzer, your face will be glowing and absorb skincare products better. Don’t forget to include our SPA Headband to the mix for the best at-home skincare treatment vibe!
Have A Virtual Bake-Off
Baked goods can be another fun way to connect virtually with your friends. Channel your inner Bake Off contestant, and put something together that Paul would fawn over! Stay connected with your gal pals by baking over Zoom or having fun with Instagram’s Live or Stories. When it’s all said and done you can take incredible pictures that will be worthy of Chrissy Teigen’s books.
Watch a Rom-Com Together
Even if you can’t physically get together to watch your favorite romantic comedy as a group, there’s nothing stopping you from doing things over the Internet! With the help of Netflix Party, you can put on your coziest pajamas and settle in at your respective homes for a movie night with your friends. This browser extension lets you host a virtual viewing party, which ensures you’re all watching the movie together in real time. Even more, you can use Netflix Party’s live chat feature and talk about the movie as it happens. Not sure what to watch? Netflix has a host of romantic comedies in its library so whether you go for a classic When Harry Met Sally or The Kissing Booth you can’t go wrong.
Putting on makeup is an art. Quite like the way each brush stroke matters in a painting, simply changing your lipstick’s shade can transform your whole look from “adorable teen idol” to “gothic chic”! The case with the “no-makeup” makeup trend is no different. There is definitely a balance to be struck when aiming to...Read more
