How to keep your skin clear while wearing a protective mask
During these last few months of wearing protective face masks you may have noticed that the part of your skin that usually gets covered by it can get drier and some breakouts might have appeared.
To keep your skin healthy even when it’s covered and “mask pimple” we have some tips that will soothe your skin back to its healthier state.
Cleanse your skin
Before putting on your mask, wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Sweat and oil can cause acne so it’s better to remove any of it before you put the mask on. Always use a PH balanced face wash so you don’t irritate your skin and make it drier before even putting the mask on.
Also try wearing a clean mask each time and wash your face after removing it.
Moisturise
The skin does not get to breathe as much under the mask so it’s important to bring its balance back. Always moisturise your skin with a moisturiser with a sorbet or gel texture, which can also soothe and cool your thirsty skin without being overly rich and heavy. Stay clear from formulas that have too much fragrance.
Exfoliate

This will allow you to prevent blemishes and blackheads by removing the extra skin that could clog your pores. This will also make your cleanser and moisturiser more effective. Use Oil balancing toners
If your skin tends to be oilier, especially during these hotter days, using an oil balancing toner could help you keep sebum production at bay and avoid it coming in contact with the mask. Be careful when choosing the right one, since you want to stay away to toners that contain alcohol and can be overly drying.
Avoid wearing makeup
Makeup worn under a mask can speed up the development of acne and irritation. Try to keep your makeup application to a minimum, avoid wearing it in the parts that will be covered by the mask (you will also save a lot of products from getting wasted) and apply only something light like concealer, mascara and eyebrow products.
