How to Revive Dull Skin

Everyone has their good days and bad days. Strangely enough, your skin seems to have them, too. One day, your skin can look as radiant as ever, only to be noticeably dull the next.
Although your dull skin may seem like a helpless and unforeseen situation, you can actually skip those “dull skin days”! It’s as simple as knowing what causes your skin to become dull and then actively changing up your routine to address it.
So, are you ready to get your skin’s glow and bounce back and keep it that way? Here are a few tips on how to do just that:
Remove your makeup before bed
Forgetting, or simply choosing not to remove your makeup before going to bed, is a big no-no. Your makeup may have certain properties that protect your skin from absorbing dirt from the air-- especially if you’re exposed to polluted environments-- but it can’t keep them out of your skin for too long. This is why leaving your makeup on through the night not only clogs your pores, but it also clogs them with the dirt your makeup was protecting your skin from in the first place, resulting in dull skin the morning after. Yikes!
Double cleanse
Double cleansing is exactly what it sounds like: washing your face twice. The first wash, which is what everyone already does, removes the dirt and impurities from our face. The second wash is where the magic happens. This is where the skin absorbs the hydrating and exfoliating properties of the cleanser.
You should use an oil-based cleanser during your first wash (you have to massage the oil onto your dry face), and a water-based cleanser during your second one. As crazy as it sounds, oil dissolves oil. This means: goodbye to excess sebum, clogged pores, and dead skin, which are all known contributors to dull skin.
Exfoliate with An At-Home Dermaplaning Tool
Unremoved dead skin cells are a huge culprit in the graying and dulling of your skin. This is why exfoliating will do wonders for your complexion. There are a lot of ways to exfoliate your skin, but dermaplaning does it all without using nasty chemicals that can irritate your skin. It also has the extra benefit of removing the peach fuzz from the face as well resulting in better penetration of your skincare products and a flawless makeup application.
It is a safe, painless, and non-invasive method of exfoliation, with remarkable results.
The Hollywood Browzer allows you to experience dermaplaning in the comfort of your own home. Bringing out that youthful glow is as simple as tilting your Browzer at a 45 degree angle and gently gliding it across your skin in short, light feathery motions.
A battery-powered alternative is the Hollywood Smoother, which uses sonic technology to help you have an easy and even exfoliation.
With these handy and portable innovations, you are sure to get all the effects of dermaplaning, wherever and whenever you want, all while cutting your monthly clinic and hair removal appointment costs.
Get enough sleep.
It may sound too cliché to be true, but stress and sleep deprivation are leading causes of skin dullness and many other skin problems. Make sure you get 8 hours of sleep a day (if you can’t do it in one go, try to sneak in some naps!), and don’t stress yourself out too much!
A more proactive way of approaching this problem is to learn meditation. It sounds like a simple concept, but once you meditate regularly, you will find yourself sleeping better (regardless of the length of time) and feeling less stressed, leaving you with radiance both inside and out.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Water is an essential to our survival, so it’s not a surprise that our skin needs it to look healthier, too. Similar to the approach with Vitamin C, hydration can be given to your skin in more ways than one. Your top priority, of course, is to drink six to eight glasses a day. Set reminders if you have to on your phone. That way you won’t forget! From the ‘outside in’ so to speak, you can also use hyaluronic acid on the skin for a dose of hydration. These will work wonders in improving your skin's moisture retention.
Shield yourself from the sun
Too much of the sun’s UV rays can also cause the skin to look dull, or even worse, speed up the skin's ageing process. We recommend daily use of sunscreen even on cloudy days. You should aim to use products with at least an SPF of 15.
