5 Reasons Why You Need to Add Squalane to Your Skincare Routine

The ingredients we see and hear about being used in skincare are vast and sometimes it can be hard to keep up with what each ingredient does or why we need it. One ingredient you may have heard being mentioned quite frequently is Squalane- an oil with many benefits and a unique structure compared to some other plant and mineral oil on the market. But what is Squalane and why is it an asset to your skincare routine? We’ve got all the information you need!

1 - It reduces the appearance of fine lines

Squalane works to repair the skin’s vital barrier which can help with skin health and provide a more youthful look and texture through the minimizing of fine lines and wrinkles. This gives the skin a renewed and refreshed look that could combat any amount of beauty sleep!

It’s for this reason that we use vegan squalane in our Anti-Aging Facial Serum to give your skin the boost of radiance it needs

2 - It improves skin moisture and texture

Squalane works as a lightweight moisturizer and leaves the skin hydrated and luminous without being heavy or hard for skin to absorb. Because of its hydrating and antioxidant properties, squalane can also help to improve skin texture leaving your skin baby smooth, and it can even help reduce the appearance of pores and blemishes.

3 - It can even skin tone

With its powerful antioxidant properties, squalane can work to even skin tone, reducing the appearance of dark spots as well as reducing temporary redness in the face and soothing the skin to aid in reducing irritation. Your skin tone will be revitalised and brightened with discoloration reduced for an even glow.

4 - It mimics our natural oils

The reason Squalane is so harmonious with our skin is because it very closely resembles the natural oil our skin produces- sebum. This means that the skin recognises it as a naturally occurring oil which can reduce how much excess oil skin produces (so it gains control over oily skin), reduces the likelihood of skin reactions making it suitable for all skin types, and it also doesn’t clog pores or add heaviness to the skin.

While Squalane is easily absorbed by the body, dermaplaning can improve oil absorption even more which is why we recommend the use of the Hollywood Browzer alongside your skincare.

5 - It can be vegan

While traditionally Squalane was derived from shark liver oil, today most Squalane is sourced sustainably from plants such as olives, wheat bran, rice bran, and amaranth. This means that Squalane formulas, such as our Anti-Aging Facial Serum, are vegan and cruelty free.
